Alex Dikowski (1985, New Jersey, United States) creates mixed media collage and conceptual artworks. Several reoccurring subject matter can be recognized, such as the relation with popular culture and media, working with repetition, provocation and the investigation of technology in a post-modern society.

His mixed media artworks often refer to pop and mass culture. By rejecting the widely accepted criteria of progress in a civilized society, his works reference an alternative view of our economic, technological, and social state of affairs.

His works urge us to renegotiate pop art as being part of a reactive or – at times – autistic medium, commenting on oppressing themes in our contemporary society. By demonstrating the omnipresent lingering of a ‘world both connected and disconnected by technology’, he creates with daily, recognizable elements, a situation in which the viewer is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased position.

Alex Dikowski currently lives and works in San Diego, California.
